DECEMBER 16, 2017 WAS THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF NIRBHAYA INCIDENCE IN DELHI. ONE OF THE RAPISTS HAD SAID, 'GOOD AND DECENT WOMEN DON'T VENTURE OUT OF THEIR HOUSE AFTER 9 PM...' THIS PROVES RAPISTS ARE VICTIMS OF:
1. Lack of happy healthy childhood with proper parenting, schooling along with the progressive and pragmatic social environment.
2. The above-mentioned factors have a negative influence in the form of gender bias, prejudice, false self-perception, an unrealistic expectation set by parents, self, a community in the form of intra and inter-community influence. This is eventually extrapolated in personal and professional identity.
3. The influence listed as the second point makes the person feel helpless and allows his fear, apprehension and self doubt prey on him making him or her aggressive, vindictive with a domineering, complaining and negative attitude towards life.
4. Such a person can be easily manipulated into repressive and anti-social activities as such a person considers self-discipline as a sign of weakness and an enquiring mind as defiance against his authority.
5. Such a person exploits the social hypocrisy to his personal benefit.
The purpose of this post on a professional networking site: LinkedIn is numerous:
1. The professional life is not in isolation the personal life and this is quite evident from the posts of various LinkedIn members sharing obscene and improper messages they receive from LinkedIn members with a rhetoric reminder that LinkedIn is a professional networking site. This exhibits our endorsement of social hypocrisy of personal and professional life and proves the cause of the work-life imbalance we experience.
2. The above reason leads to the reason of organisations often turning blind eye to the code of conduct or ethics that we are aware of as corporate ethics. So, the question holds good, can professional networking site, LinkedIn has a separate code of conduct than the other networking sites like Facebook, Twitter et al?
3. Gender prejudice and bias are prevalent in our social set up and it invariably reflects in any corporate or any other professional organisation too. Therefore, gender discrimination and gender-specific harassment are prevalent in a professional environment too. Therefore, require enlightened addressing of such issues for work-life balance of the corporate/organisation too.
4. When we scrutinize the work culture of most of the organisation, we may find that authoritative leadership is prevalent and widely practised. Such form of leadership does not encourage a democratic work environment allowing people to speak their heart and mind and take responsibility for their thoughts, words and actions. Such a work environment is based on assigning a task and not delegating responsibility. Such work culture and environment, therefore, is favourable to spawn discrimination, even gender inequality, eccentricity, blame game, hypocrisy in terms of thoughts and action
5. This post does not require any data to justify its credibility as it is easily available in the rest of the posts on LinkedIn and other social networking sites as well as on the electronic and print media.
